I find this infographic very fitting for 2017. I’m starting to get a lot of emails from companies that haven’t asked permission to email me. I suspect that a few of the new sales-prospect scraping technologies out there are supplying email addresses to aggressive sales and marketing teams. It’s not the worst thing in the world to get a few unsolicited emails every once in a while. But, I should warn these companies that they’re entering dangerous waters. Read this infographic below to make sure you’re not spamming your global propsects. It’s also a good idea for U.S. companies to…

A word of caution: From my own anecdotal evidence, people find being “followed” around the Internet really creepy. And you have to stop for a moment and think about what that does to your brand image. If your product or service is in the B2B marketing or sales space, then I wouldn’t worry about this. Most people in our industry understand remarketing and retargeting. But, if you’re in the B2C space, it might be a good idea to survey your customers that converted from a retargeting campaign and ask how they felt about your ads. Try to detect if your…

The fold is a term used by web designers and Internet marketers to describe the interface that separates all the web content above a web browser’s bottom border. It’s a slightly dated term since the web has evolved to accommodate mobile devices. However, the term and its implications are still important for those engaged in conversion rate optimization and user experience improvement activities. The illustration above shows how the “the fold” is defined on a laptop computer. Why is the fold important? Generally speaking, the first things visitors see when they arrive at one of your webpages will be “above…

Winning on social media means paying attention to subtle things, like how your posts are composed and what hashtags will bring eyeballs and still not get buried. I have one simple tip for making hashtag usage more elegant: Use hashtags in sentences. Don’t just append them to the end of a tweet or other social media updates. For example: Maybe one of the most important #contentmarketing initiatives you're forgetting about: Your press page. What I like about this infographic is it drills home the point that your business is uniquely yours. What I really mean is: the problems you’re facing probably haven’t been solved by another company. You’re going to have to get in the trenches and really figure out what makes your customers tick and what strategies and processes are going to make a viable business to serve those customers. This infographic is concise, not too cluttered, and has a lot of good, quick takeaways. It’s a keeper! A big thanks goes out to Pierre Lechelle for creating this amazing infographic!

Wow. Now, this is an infographic. So many infographics under-deliver. They’re forced. They spawned because it ended up on a “Marketing Q1” to-do list. And they end up being useless, enormous, ugly image files that just kills everyone’s bandwidth. An infographic is really a data visualization that presents useful data and makes it easy for viewers to do something actionable with it. That’s what the infographic below does. The number one takeaway from this graphic is: your list is reading your email on their phones. Are your emails optimized for mobile? Are you thinking about how people behave on mobile…

This is one of my all-time favorite infographics. I reference it in other articles quite regularly. It really gets to the point of how important it is to respond to your inbound leads ASAP. And I’m not talking about newsletter signups or people who have downloaded a white paper. I’m talking about hot leads: People who are calling in, asking for demos, and asking specific questions. I’ve worked for many B2B companies in the past where this was always something that could have been improved. The first problem is: 9-5. You’re losing a ton of money by not responding to…

Today we are releasing our newest feature – Recordings. And as the name suggests, Crazy Egg users can now view video recordings of their website visitors’ sessions. Just to be clear, Recordings doesn’t record visitors through their computer cameras :). We record their screen activity as they navigate and use your website. Here’s an example: We’ve been very excited about this release. Many of our customers have been asking for this functionality, and it was our pleasure to build it for them! We really wanted to make sure we built a visitor recording feature that serves our customer base in…

I definitely don’t envy anyone that has to compete on Google Shopping. To be successful, it requires quite a bit of spreadsheet chops, constant adjusting and a deep understanding of your customer lifetime value. It’s possible that lowering your prices to just the right point will significantly build your customer base in the long run. Although it may seem like you’re losing money on first-time customers that come from Google Shopping, you’re ultimately profiting on their future business. In a sense, you’re turning that first-time monetary loss into marketing spend. It’s definitely tricky. And yes, it is a science project….
